Bah tant qu'à faire...ou alors faut un pur remplaçant, de manière à faire une franchise d'auteur.

L'aspect politique de ce nouveau biopic m'intrigue...mais la 3D, oui, ça se justifie pas là.

Et un projet de plus qui vient s'allonger à la longue liste, ça pourrait le faire, mais je pense que Fincher a déjà traité ce/ces sujets et devrait se porter sur un de ses autres projets (NEMONMEMONEMONEMONEMO)

Either way, he’ll handle the film through his new company, Panic Pictures. Anyone else see a pattern emerging here?

And talking of his directorial possibilities, he’s got plenty hanging around his office door, trying to attract his attention like cold Dickensian orphans, There’s the new take on Captain Nemo, TV dramas House of Cards and Mindhunter, and Cleopatra, which Angelina Jolie is bugging him about. Plus he may also decide to tackle The Girl Who Played With Fire once his work on Dragon Tattoo is done. Oh, and while we’re on the subject of the latter, two new posters have appeared online. Warning: potentially NSFW imagery right here…

Screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Insider, Munich, Benjamin Button) is currently in talks to pen the epic Cleopatra.

Variety reports that while no formal deal is in place, Roth has been approached and is likely to begin writing in the next several weeks.

Fincher’s involvement was first reported back in March, and he hasn’t commited to the project just yet. He’s currently busy finishing up The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo which opens next month, then he’s got a couple of things to consider. Firstly, he’s committed to directing the pilot of the drama series House of Cards starring Kevin Spacey for Netflix. That’s expected to shoot in the spring. Then he’s also committed to directing his 3D remake of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Additionally, screenwriter Steven Zaillian has already been hard at work on The Girl Who Played with Fire, and should Dragon Tattoo be a hit (which I’m fairly certain it will be), Sony will undoubtedly want to get the sequel moving as quickly as possible.

So, as you can see, the possibility of Fincher directing Cleopatra comes down to scheduling. Both Cleopatra and Dragon Tattoo are with Sony, the studio would most likely be willing to have Fincher do both films. However, if he chooses 20,000 Leagues as his next project and Sony wants to move forward with Cleopatra, he may have to step away. With Roth just now working on the script, one presumes that Fincher could fit another film in next year before moving on to Cleopatra.

The previous draft of the film was written by Brian Helgeland (LA Confidential, Green Zone, Robin des Bois), who adapted the story from Stacy Schiff’s bestselling book Cleopatra: A Life.

Bon, y a pas à chier, l'équipe serait prestigieuse, mais ça m'excite moins que 20 000 lieues sous les mers quand même...
Ca a vraiment l'air d'être commande sur commande là pour Fincher...

Apparemment, Millenium 2 va se faire assez vite, scénario bouclé, contrat signés.

A voir si le film est bien reçu par la critique (le succès public est apparemment acquis, ce qui m'étonne, mais bon), Fincher n'a pas signé de contrat et n'a pas la main.

Du coup, je sais pas. S'il y a des réécritures sur les deux autres, c'est qu'ils ne sont pas sur le point de démarrer.

Si 20000 lieues sous les mers est en performance capture, il peut tourner les séquences et enchaîner sur la post-prod du film en même temps que Millenium 2 (dès que Bond 23 est bouclé)...

Juillet 2012: tournage de 20000 lieues - sortie juillet 2013
Janvier 2013: Millenium 2 - Sortie Décembre 2013

A la Spielberg. Niveau agenda, c'est le scénario qui me semble le plus crédible. Mais c'est quand même tendu vu la durée des tournages et la maniaquerie du bonhomme. Mais sa méthode de travail (post-prod en même temps que le tournage, comme sur Social Network ou Button) convient...

Le truc c'est que Fincher, maintenant, c'est une équipe entière qui bosse avec lui, une entreprise qui doit tourner...Donc il va pas se poser très longtemps.

Je me représente pas Cléopâtre...A moins d'un reteam avec Pitt, et encore...

Ça serait le pied, ça.
Si ça se trouve la saga "Millenium" va lui servir d'interlude (très classe) entre deux gros projets.

R-I’d love to. In fact, the guy who did the title sequence (Dragon tattoo), he and I were going to do Heavy Metal.

Rappelons-nous, en 2000, Sony considérait 3 personnes pour réaliser Spider-Man, Chris Columbus, Sam Raimi et David Fincher.
Columbus a choisi Harry Potter et Fincher a choisi Panic Room (également écrit par David Koepp) mais il révèle quelles étaient ses idées pour adapter le perso et la BD :

“My impression what Spider-Man could be is very different from what Sam did or what Sam wanted to do. I think the reason he directed that movie was because he wanted to do the Marvel comic superhero. I was never interested in the genesis story. I couldn’t get past a guy getting bit by a red and blue spider. It was just a problem… It was not something that I felt I could do straight-faced. I wanted to start with Gwen Stacy and the Green Goblin, and I wanted to kill Gwen Stacy.

The title sequence of the movie that I was going to do was going to be a ten minute — basically a music video, an opera, which was going to be the one shot that took you through the entire Peter Parker backstory. Bit by a radio active spider, the death of Uncle Ben, the loss of Mary Jane, and [then the movie] was going to begin with Peter meeting Gwen Stacy. It was a very different thing, it wasn’t the teenager story. It was much more of the guy who’s settled into being a freak.”

C'était pas forcément un bon choix pour une première adaptation, à l'époque où la vague de films tirés de comics n'était pas encore lancée, mais pour un reboot, ç'eut été parfait...plutôt que ce que semblent faire Marc Webb et Sony.

"That's something I would love to do with Angie," Fincher said. "It's something that was brought to me that you have to take seriously. Scott has this wonderful book [by Stacy Schiff] and hopefully Eric can find a way in. I'm not interested in a giant sword and sandal epic," Fincher said. Of course he doesn't want to do the typical "epic" take, but his reasoning is more interesting. "We've seen scope; everyone knows we can fake that. That stuff doesn't impress in the way that it did even 10 years ago. We expect that from cable. So that's not the reason to do that. What is it about this character that has purchased this place in our history and imagination that is relatable today?"

Site abominable... dire que tout a commencé là-bas...

Fincher a les mêmes références que moi, c'est flatteur.
Chinatown, Taxi Driver, Mad Max 2, Le Lauréat, Les Hommes du Président, Fenêtre sur Cour, Terminator... c'est beau !
S'il avait ajouté The Insider ou Heat, c'eut été l'orgasme.

Je suis étonné qu'il ne parle pas de Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, que j'adooooore.
