Enfin!
Eli Roth is set to direct his next horror thriller, The Green Inferno. Details on the film's plot have yet to be revealed.
Best known for horror entries like Hostel and Cabin Fever, Roth co-wrote the screenplay with Aftershock co-writer Guillermo Amoedo, from Roth's own original story.
Worldview Entertainment, a New York City-based motion picture production and investment company, has signed on to finance and produce.
“Eli has an excellent track record of writing and directing high quality, commercially successful films of this genre. We are big fans of his work and very excited to be a part of his next project,” said Worldview CEO, Christopher Woodrow.
“I’ve had an amazing few years producing, writing and acting, and am very excited to get back in the director’s chair. I’ve been working on this idea for several years, and was inspired by filming in Chile and cannot wait to get back,” said Roth. “Worldview backs my vision and believes in me, and is giving me the support I need and the freedom to take risks and make something daring and terrifying. I believe this will be the scariest and most intense film I have made to date. I want to audiences worldwide to feel my return to directing was worth the wait.”
"I am a huge fan of Eli Roth. Any filmmaker who can consistently satisfy his audience ultimately can command global box office success. I cannot wait for our international distributors to sink their teeth into this project,” said Alex Walton, Exclusive Media’s President of International Sales and Distribution.
Roth will produce alongside Woodrow, Worldview COO, Molly Conners, and Sobras International producers Miguel Asensio Llamas and Nicolás Lopez. Worldview’s Maria Cestone, Sarah Johnson Redlich and Hoyt David Morgan will executive produce.
Production will begin in the fall of 2012 in Peru and Chile.
Roth and Amoedo’s script centers around an idealistic band of do-gooders who crash land in the Peruvian jungle and get captured by man-eating tribes.
