Yari Film Group is fast-tracking KILLING PABLO, about the life of Pablo Escobar, to be directed by Joe Carnahan with Javier Bardem playing Pablo and Christian Bale playing the Delta Force commander who led the hunt for the drug dealer. |

Bon bah a priori ce sera Killing Pablo en premier : Might be going to Colombia as early as THIS WEEK. Major, major casting news coming in the next two weeks (hopefully after Thanksgiving) so it looks like this one might be ramping up faster than I thought possible. Had a big dinner last night with all the major foreign film buyers and I think they're all wanting to back 'KILLING PABLO' because they love the script and the material it's based on. It doesn't hurt that KP was a massive bestseller and everybody sees the upside to doing a film with the author of 'Black Hawk Down' which made a couple of bucks at the box-office a few years back. It was a great dinner and led to the obvious: It's time to hit Colombia and hit it hard... Updates to follow. |

Bon donc si on se rappelle ce que disait Carnahan : "The only downside would be Bardem, who just commited to a film and therefore wouldn't be available for KP. There is, however another suggestion that's just as thrilling and somebody who had already expressed an earlier interest in this script. If he were to agree to play Pablo, I might have to pull up stakes and go make that film, toot sweet." Inconnu. Bref. |

Ou pas : Full speed on Pablo now but White Jazz not out of the running. If something is going to happen with that, it's going to have to happen fast since the ramp-up for KP has already begun. |

Dernier message sur son blog : Off to Argentina, right after the new year to interview Pablo's son and lay the ground work for KILLING PABLO. Have loads of contacts and folks on the ground and my feeling is we will wind up shooting a majority of KP in and around Buenos Aires and then travel to Colombia for a few weeks to get the crucial stuff. We've been extended every courtesy by the Colombian government and current President Alvaro Uribe and also given guarantees as to our safety and well being. HOWEVER, there's not a completion bond company in the world that will touch us if we choose to shoot KILLING PABLO entirely in Colombia. It's far too dangerous on multiple fronts, not the least of which is 'El Grande Gringo' aka, yours truly, traipsing around like some moron, trying to do a movie about 'El Doctor' himself. I figure that's actually the perfect cover. Nobody would ever think this ridiculous white boy would be dumb enough to pull a stunt like that, so I'm hoping (praying) that this bit of 'camo' will suffice. Not sure where the other, horrible Pablo project is at the moment. I know they're getting turned down by a lot of folks...memo to aspiring screenwriters, if you want to know how NOT to write a screenplay, pick up that piece of sh*t and use it as reverse tutelage. It not only does a disservice to the craft of writing, it mocks one of the greatest figures in Latin American history with a non-existent, wholly fictionalized Butch and Sundance angle involving Pablo and his brother Roberto. It's laughably lame. Good luck chumps. And it doesn't matter if you get out of the gate six months earlier than me. I will have an announcement after the new year that will absolutely break your hearts and kill whatever middling credibility you have...and you deserve that heartbreak, trying to push a sh*tty, insultingly bad Pablo pic into production against mine and being nasty and conniving and devious about it. I said in yesterday's post that 'War is War and that declaration seems obvious by now...' I'll let that same sentiment ride here. |

On a vu Ramirez dans Domino, The Bourne Ultimatum et bientôt Guerilla/The Argentine. On perd au change mais bon... Tournage cet automne. |

“Edgar’s in the conversation, not 100 percent. There’s a couple other people in the conversation.” |
