TMZ.com has learned that Michael Bay will produce (and possibly direct) an adaptation of sci-fi author Whitley Strieber's upcoming novel, 2012: The War for Souls, at Warner Bros. Pictures. According to some folk traditions, 2012 is suppossedly to be a year of either great spiritual transformation -- or apocalypse. The Mayan calendar held that it would be a time when the existing world order would be reversed. Nostradamus forecasted that a rather large comet would rudely arrive on Earth's doorstep no later than 2012. The Roman Catholic Saint Malachy predicted that in 2012, the last Pope would arrive, triggering Judgment Day. The site says that DreamWorks-based producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (upcoming Transformers and Star Trek) of Kurtzman/Orci are producing and may write the script as well. Mouais. "The story that Strieber (who wrote THE WOLFEN) came up with focuses on a scientist that discovers multiple versions of Earth exist in different dimensions and that all of them are doomed to perish in 2012, as predicted by the Mayans. He has to team up with an alternate dimension self to figure out how to stop the apocalypse. " Lol. Et sinon, ça se confirme : "Bay is in line to direct and his writers on TRANSFORMERS, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, will produce. They aren't writing the script, though. They are currently looking for someone to adapt." |

C'est chez Warner. Exit Dreamworks? Plus de tandem Spielberg/Bay? Michael sans producteur? "We've been looking for a way to have the kinds of thrillers that we are interested in that still take into account the latest theories and discoveries in Egyptology and in quantum mechanics and all those things that Mr. Strieber is so knowledge about," Orci said. "The idea of a man teaming up with himself to solve a cosmic mystery was way too good for us to pass up," Kurtzman said. |
