Il a pas envie de prendre sa retraite annoncée, on dirait. Tandis que les Weinstein cherchent le financement de Clerks III, Smith va tourner un nouveau film. Smith got inspired and began writing a script called Tusk. It’s based on an internet ad about a man who has reportedly spent three years alone on an island and befriended a walrus. The man came home, missed his walrus and offered free lodging…if you dress and act like a walrus for two hours per day. Smith read this, imagined the story as a horror movie and has now written a script of just that. He calls it “the most fucked-up, absurd movie ever” and wants Michael Parks in the lead. Also, he’d love Quentin Tarantino to play the lodger, so he sent the 85-page script to him with no information. He has yet to hear back from the director. Je sais pas si ce sera avec les acteurs qu'il souhaite (Parks, déjà dans Red State, c'est probable, mais Tarantino?). Smith envisions the story as “the cuddly version of The Human Centipede.” Mouais. Je suis content de le voir continuer hors de sa comfort zone, mais Red State a prouvé que c'était peut-être pas une bonne chose. |

Cette semaine commence la prod de Yoga Hosers, spin-off de Tusk, avec le même cast dont Harley Quinn Smith et Lily-Rose Depp, oui, les filles de Kevin Smith et Johnny Depp, qui sera également dans le film.  Yoga Hosers, written by Smith, centers on 15-year-old yoga nuts Colleen Collette (Lily-Rose Depp) and Colleen McKenzie (Harley Quinn Smith), who have an after-school job at a Manitoba convenience store called Eh-2-Zed. When an ancient evil rises from beneath Canada’s crust and threatens their big invitation to a Grade 12 party, the Colleens join forces with a legendary man-hunter from Montreal named Guy Lapointe (Johnny Depp) to fight for their lives with, according to the producers, “all seven Chakras, one Warrior Pose at a time.” (The characters of the convenience store clerks appear briefly in Tusk.) Smith, a comic book geek who has written titles for Marvel and DC and who once wrote a Superman movie script, said he considers this his entree into the comic book movie genre. “People always ask me 'Are you ever going to make a comic book movie?' " Smith said.
