J'avais pas capté que c'était Proyas qui s'en chargeait finalement. Aux dernières nouvelles, c'était Scott Derrickson (L'Exorcisme d'Emily Rose, Le Jour où la Terre s'arrêta) mais apparemment, il bosse sur une autre histoire biblique, Goliath.

Donc en septembre dernier, Proyas a signé pour adapter le poème épique de John Milton pour Legendary Pictures, qui continue donc les films iconiques badass, à partir d'un scénario moultes fois réécrits.

Stuart Hazeldine developed the primary draft of the screenplay that was originally written by Byron Willinger and Philip de Blasi. Lawrence Kasdan provided a polish as well as Ryan Condal, who delivered the most recent draft.

A part Kasdan, pas un de ces mecs n'a écrit un film produit (que l'on connaisse).

"Paradise Lost" tells the story of the epic war in heaven between archangels Michael and Lucifer, including the latter's role in Adam and Eve's fall from grace. Pic will be crafted as an action vehicle that will include aerial warfare, possibly shot in 3D.

Et donc on apprend aujourd'hui que Bradley Cooper est intéressé par le rôle de Lucifer.

Y a du challenge...ça va être bien de le voir jouer un enculé de beau gosse. Je l'en sens bien capable même s'il s'impose pas forcément comme parfait pour le rôle.

Par contre, je sais pas où ça laisse Dracula Year Zero, que Proyas devait réaliser.

Je me suis demandé, oui, si ça entrait en ligne avec le propos de Prédictions.

Surtout que le côté blockbuster va sûrement écraser la richesse du matériau :

The poem concerns the Christian story of the Fall of Man: the temptation of Adam and Eve by the fallen angel Satan and their expulsion from the Garden of Eden. Milton's purpose, stated in Book I, is to "justify the ways of God to men" and elucidate the conflict between God's eternal foresight and free will. Although the primary event in the epic is about the Fall of Man, the character Satan serves as an anti-hero and as a prominent driving force in the plot. His depiction has fascinated critics, some of which have interpreted Paradise Lost as a poem questioning the church’s power (a common theme during the English Renaissance) rather than only a description of the fall of Adam and Eve.

Milton incorporates Paganism, classical mythology, and Christianity into the poem. While Milton's principal goal in the work is to give a compelling Theodicy, he nevertheless deals with a range of topics, from marriage to politics (Milton was politically active during the time of the English Civil War). Many difficult theological issues are deliberately addressed, including fate, predestination, the Trinity, the introduction of sin and death into the world, as well as the nature of angels, fallen angels, Satan, and the war in heaven. Milton draws on his knowledge of languages, and diverse sources – primarily Genesis, much of the New Testament, the deuterocanonical Book of Enoch, and other parts of the Old Testament. Milton's epic is generally considered one of the greatest literary works in the English language.

Visuellement ça peut être magnifique comme ça peut super ringard sur les dialogues et jeux d'acteurs (c'est plus mis en scène comme du théâtre, gorgé de métaphores jusqu'à ras bord)
C'est plutôt le genre d'histoire que l'on prend comme modèle pour en faire une autre.
Mais si c'est bien géré avec les moyens qu'il faut (ce sera pas gratuit, sinon ce sera à ranger à côté de Legions), le visuel peut réussir à lui-seul un 4,5 ou 5/6

Proyas s'était déjà intéressé de manière quasi-direct à l'histoire d'Adam et Eve avec la fin de Predictions. Pas très original ni réellement beau, mais la volonté était là.

Ca peut être horriblement vulgaire/culcul/kitch 'Lovely Bones' style, ou ça peut faire un super films d'Heroic Fantasy Badass. Faut choisir son camp en gros.

Concrêtement, je pense qu'il faudrait un recul énorme pour réussir à faire passer un dialogue entre Adam et Eve, Dieu avec Adam, Satan qui se fout de la gueule de Dieu, etc.
Plus qu'un point de vue athée ou agnostique, un point de vue extraterrestre (je me rends compte que Proyas pourrait très bien réussir ça d'ailleurs)
