Son prochain film, Bunny Lake is Missing, remake d'un film d'Otto Preminger (dont le pitch ressemble grave à celui du mmmmphesque Flightplan), devait se tourner dans un mois, avec Reese Witherspoon.

Elle a dû se barrer.

Ca fait quelques jours déjà qu'on le sait, j'attendais la réaction de Carnahan sur son blog et la voici enfin :

"These things happen. Movies go away every day.
Reese is dealing with a lot of stuff in her life. So am I. We were running
up against it as far as time for prep and shooting and scripting, etc.
I had already commited to 'White Jazz' and the longer we stretched
'Bunny' the more in jeopardy the WJ schedule became. And there was
just no way I could let that happen. I need a nice extended prep period
for that flick.

And now I've got it.

That's it guys. I wish there were some truly tasty bits of gossip but there
just aren't. Sorry.

Bon bah c'est cool, du coup White Jazz se fera plus vite. Comme ça, on évite une potentielle annulation (les projets prévus longtemps à l'avance et qui doivent se faire après un autre projet, ça finit souvent annulé).

Et puis, même s'il ne semblait pas y avoir de concurrence, White Jazz sortira peut-être avant la suite "originale" de LA Confidential (oui oui, ça a été annoncé récemment).

Pour rappel, de la bouche de Carnahan himself :

By now you may have read in the trades that there's some activity
on the Ellroy front vis-a-vis a proposed 'LA CONFIDENTIAL 2' that
would star both Russell Crowe and Guy Pearce. I had heard about this
a few months back as we had just closed our deal for WHITE JAZZ.
Ellroy and I actually spoke about it because they had asked him back
into the loop to work on that script. As far as I know, they are pushing
ahead and have asked us to change the Exley character's name in
WHITE JAZZ as New Regency apparently has the right.

Those familiar with the book also know that 'The Dud' Dudley Smith is
also featured prominently in it. We took the original LA CONFIDENTIAL into
account when writing WHITE JAZZ so we opted to remove him from the story.
Now that Exley looks like he's out, it will really eliminate any incidental characters
from WHITE JAZZ and allow it to be a stand alone and not dependant on the prior
characters.

WHITE JAZZ is still the last book in the quartet and while I wish everyone well
on LA CONFIDENTIAL 2, I hope they bring some heavy sh*t to the table because
my younger brother Matt wrote an absolute knockdown, drag-out version of
WHITE JAZZ. I'm not throwing down any type of gauntlet here. I have the utmost
respect for Hanson and Helgeland. The original is fantastic.

Stylistically, they will be WILDLY divergent, that I can promise. Clooney as Dave
Klein is going to rock a 1958 LA that you have never and will never, see again.

En plus, ça me tentait vraiment pas des masses ce remake...j'aurai été curieux de le voir s'attaquer à un truc encore différent (son premier ne ressemble pas à Narc qui ne ressemble apparemment pas à Smokin' Aces) mais bon...

C'est tipar pour White Jazz et ça devrait ENFIN enchaîner sur l'arlésienne Killing Pablo.

Après Pine, c'est Clooney qui est obligé de lâcher le film :

Rough weekend. I had a bad feeling after they pushed 'Leatherheads' to April
because of the extensive post on that film that something was going to have
to give. Also, George is neck deep in the Coen bros. film at the moment and
trying to do 'Michael Clayton' press which will likely carry over into Awards
season...SO...they wanted to see about pushing White Jazz back, which I
really don't want to do. I've been waiting awhile to make this one and I wasn't
content to sit on my hands.

Right now, (actually it began on friday) we're in the process of trying to plug
a guy into this movie that, if it works, would be pretty f*cking amazing. No,
INCREDIBLY f*cking amazing, so we'll see what happens.

No tears kids. This is the business. It happens all the time and you've got to
have the balls and the ability to push past in spite of these setbacks.

We march on.

La haine. J'avais hâte de voir Clooney dans ce genre de rôle...j'espère que son remplaçant sera bon.

Le mystère continue concernant le remplaçant de Clooney sur le blog de Carnahan :
There are two incredibly strong options that we're closing in on right now.
One of these options reached out to us, after the Clooney news broke
and we were all a little stunned and at the same time, thrilled that this
cat would be considering WHITE JAZZ. Now normally, these types of situations
lend themselves to a lot more pessimism than optimism. However, I firmly
believe that one of my two choices are going to slot into this picture and
we're gonna keep cranking.

If I'm wrong. Pablo awaits.

Sinon, c'est vrai que le pauvre a pas de bol avec ses stars sur ses projets...Harrison Ford qui quitte A Walk Among the Tombstones et le projet tombe à l'eau, les différences d'opinions qui font que Cruise et lui ne feront pas M:I-3 ensemble, Reese Witherspoon qui abandonne Bunny Lake is Missing et maintenant Pine et Clooney sur White Jazz...la lose.

Si Ford et/ou Cruise sont les deux choix possibles pour remplacer Clooney, ce serait énorme (surtout Ford).

Et j'espère que Killing Pablo va pas lui aussi perdre ses acteurs à la veille du tournage putain...
