Cate Blanchett is attached to star in an authorized biopic of Hollywood legend Lucille Ball that Aaron Sorkin is set to write for Escape Artists, TheWrap has learned.

The film will chronicle Ball’s 20-year marriage to Desi Arnaz, with whom she starred on the classic TV sitcom “I Love Lucy.” Ball had two children with Arnaz before they divorced in 1960. It was a relationship made more complicated by the added strain of running the production company Desilu together as well.

Et sinon :

Elsewhere, Sorkin adapted Michael Lewis‘ Wall Street drama “Flash Boys” for producer Scott Rudin and just turned in his script for “Molly’s Game” to Sony, which could start production as soon as early 2016.

Pareil. Jamais vu I love Lucy mais c'est genre THE sitcom classique et leur boîte a également été clé dans la création de Star Trek.

Lol.

- It's 50 centimes.
- 50 centimes? To pee?
- Son, we live in a world that has doors, and those doors have to be guarded by women with mops. Who's gonna do it? You? Your wife? I have a greater responsibility than you could possibly fathom. You weep for 50 centimes, and you curse the Dame-Pipis. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know. That 50 centimes, while expensive, probably saves lives. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you WANT me by this door, you NEED me by this door. We use words like merde, crotte, chier. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who pisses and shits in the toilet of the very freedom that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a mop, and clean a chiotte. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

Amazon Studios has acquired Lucy and Desi, the Aaron Sorkin-scripted drama from Escape Artists that has Cate Blanchett attached to star as TV’s pioneering star Lucille Ball. The feature project has been percolating a couple years. Escape Artists Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch will produce.

I’m told that there already is movement toward finding a big star to play Ball’s former husband Desi Arnaz, with names like Javier Bardem in the mix, as well as for Fred and Ethel — originally played by William Frawley and Vivian Vance — who rounded out the quartet behind one of TV’s classic early sitcoms.

The subjects’ children, Lucie Luckinbill and Desi Arnaz Jr, are involved in the authorized telling of the tempestuous love/business relationship between Arnaz and Ball, whose production company Desilu launched such series as Star Trek. The rights package empowers the use of memoirs written by both Ball and Arnaz, rights their children have controlled since their parents died.

Je me demandais justement il y a quelques jours ce que devenait le projet.

Et je me demande si ça pourrait être un film que Sorkin réaliserait lui-même, suite à Molly's Game.
