Last year, we reported that Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs writer-directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were working on a movie based on everyone’s favorite construction toy, Lego. Variety reports that Warner Bros. has given Lego the greenlight, with an eye towards a 2014 release date. The film will be an animation/live-action hybrid, with about 80% of the film comprised of animation. The Happy Feet animation studio Animal Logic is onboard to handle the visuals, and WB has brought in Robot Chicken director Chris McKay to co-direct. Ca tue. Lord & Miller disaient qu'ils voulaient faire un film Lego qui serait comme "un film en stop-motion réalisé par Michael Bay". Rien que ça, ça me fait bander, alors si on y ajoute un réal de Robot Chicken, série en stop motion parodique complètement déjantée, ça promet un film d'action génialement débile. |

Interview du duo : Where do you begin when you’re making a movie about something that’s such a huge part of people’s childhood? Phil: Oh God, I know. All we do is violate people’s childhoods – we’ve made a career out of it. The thing that inspired us was the brick films that everybody makes online, just people in their basement using Lego to make crude stop motion clips, Star Wars and all that stuff. Our big idea was, “What if we gave millions of dollars to one of those people and let them make something?” And so that’s kind of what we’re writing through… Chris: There’s actually quite a bit of participation that’s going to happen with the Lego community at large, so we’re trying to solicit as much assistance from everyone as possible. It's all because so much about this film is building things with people on the internet and we want as much of their influence on the movie as possible. Ever tempted by full-stop motion or will it be fully CGI? Phil: Well, it’ll be sort of both. Chris: It’s going to end up being mostly CGI due to the fact that it would cost a billion dollars to make that with stop motion. The number of Lego bricks we’d need, and the amount of time required is... crazy. There’s a scene with a pirate ship on a Lego ocean, and the whole ocean is animated into Hokusai waves, all in bricks, and just doing one of those shots would take somebody a year and a million dollars worth of bricks. So for the purposes of economy, and for the movie to not come out in 2035, we’re going to do it mostly in CG, but it’ll all look as photo-real as if it was made in stop motion with actual Lego bricks. Do you have anyone in mind as concerns voice talent? Is part of the trouble the fact that when people play with Lego, making up their own voices is part of the fun? Chris: The truth is that there’s a lot of action in the movie, and one of the compelling things is watching them move without speaking. We’re hiring really amazing voice talent for the movie that’ll hopefully make it all work – you’ll still need to follow a specific character, so hopefully the diversity of the voice talent will make up for the fact that it’s no going to be always the voice in your head, you know? Phil: We’re trying to grab a wide variety of people – no names as we’re not allowed to say just yet. |

Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Nick Offerman, and Alison Brie Join Voice Cast  Ferrell will play the film’s antagonist, President Business (brilliant), with Neeson onboard as his henchman, Bad Cop (also brilliant). Offerman will play “a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business” while Brie is set as a member of Emmet’s team who harbors a powerful secret. Lego: Piece of Resistance opens on February 7th, 2014. |

http://rebrick.lego.com/Communities/contest.aspx Y'a un concours officiel qui annonce que les gagnants verront leur vidéo insérée dans le film. Je pense que ça sera genre au générique, ou par exemple quand les personnages lego regardent la télé. Très sympa en tout cas. |

Teaser : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPnY2Nj ... ata_player Putain c'est assez couillu de faire un film en CGI...si bien faits qu'on dirait de la stop-motion faite à partir de vrais Lego. Du coup, y a un côté roots dans l'animation qui m'a rappelé Team America. Le teaser est amusant, avec déjà quelques gags débiles typiques des réals. |

Oui c'est la première chose que j'ai aimé, ce côté stop-motion dans le CGI, c'est hyper couillu (EDIT: ouais okay je paraphrase presque littéralement, mais c'est tellement ça). Sinon comme pour Tempête de Boulettes Géantes (que je surkiffe), ça sent le scénario torché mais con (dans le bon sens) et blindé de gags. J'ai confiance, même si c'est un teaser qui en montre peu au final |

Quel piège à con. C'est plus possible là. On sent trop l'entreprise de jouets qui essaie de flatter la nostalgie du consommateur. Si seulement ça avait l'air frais et inventif. Mais non... Robot Chicken flattait l'amateur de Star Wars, mais il n'y avait pas cette ambition lucrative derrière. Pas plus avec Toy Story (qui traitait de vieux jouets démodés)... enfin si, un peu, comme toujours. Mais on ne sentait pas que l'unique but de l'entreprise était de vendre des jouets. Ici, c'est vraiment la convergence de Lego/cinéma/merchandising qui me gêne. Peut-être parce que ça à l'air moche, que les gags frénétiques et gentillets à la Pixar commencent à être usés. Même pas foutu de faire de la stop-motion avec des vrais LEGO, en plus. Désolé. C'tait ma montée de lait du mois. |

Je trouve justamment le parti pris visuel plutot couillu pour un film 3D. On est plus proche de Panique au Village niveau animation que de n'importe quel film d'anim de studio. Et oui scoop, les films sont fait pour faire de l'argent. |
