The buzz has been that the film really delivers as the kind of smart drama that's become semi-endangered within the studio system. That it's closing the New York Film Festival this weekend bodes fairly well for studio confidence in the movie, with Paramount is said to be planning a major awards push for Washington's performance. |

Autre critique, positive mais plus nuancée : http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplaylist/ ... s-20121014 Apparemment, formellement y a de la maîtrise, Washington aussi, et pendant un bon moment c'est du bon drame mature, puis ça tombe dans la lourdeur dans la 2e moitié. |

It’s not the smoothest ride. The film’s alcoholism plotline veers toward the generic, the symbolism is often so blunt as to be laughable, and the supporting players are mostly one-note. What keeps it on course, however, is the compassionate but honest character study at its core.
